A particularly useful and poorly documented Acrobat Exchange feature is "page dragging."

Page dragging in Acrobat

For example, say you want to move page 3 forward one page. Open the thumbnails pane* and drag the page number flag for page 3 upward to the space between pages 1 and 2. Release the mouse and the page pops into place. The page number at the bottom of the Acrobat window updates to reflect its new position within the pdf.

You can shift-click or marquee-select thumbnails and can even duplicate pages by holding down the control key (option key on Mac OS) as you drag. You can also drag and drop pages in this manner between two open documents! Adobe evangelizes this better in version 4.0, but was mum in 3.0. Talk about best-kept secrets, huh?

Expanding the thumbnail window to its maximum width gives you a great view for shuffling and rearranging pages, as shown below.

*You can open the thumbnail pane by choosing "Thumbnails and Page" from the View menu, or by clicking the third icon from the left in the toolbar. If your thumbnails are blank gray rectangles, choose "Create All Thumbnails" from the Document menu. (You can drag grayed-out thumbnails, but it is easier if you have the image).
